We Salute You—
EYAD AHMAD

Nomination Letter:

To Whom It May Concern:

I would like to submit Mr. EYAD AHMAD for nomination of the Lex Brodie’s Above & Beyond Award. Mr. Ahmad is the Security Site Supervisor for Harbor Court, a building located in downtown Honolulu that is comprised of both commercial offices and luxury condominium spaces.

On January 31, 2007 while on duty, Mr. Ahmad received a frantic call from a Harbor Court resident. The resident caller was choking and gasping for air and nearly unable to speak. Mr. Ahmad directed another officer to call 911, while he and a fellow officer rushed to the choking victim. Upon arrival and assessment, Eyad administered the Heimlich Maneuver on the victim. Mr. Ahmad was able to dislodge a piece of chicken, successfully clearing the victim’s airway.

When emergency crews arrived on site, they commented that Mr. Ahmad’s quick response had saved the victim’s life. The victim later stated regarding her experience that,  “everyone acted promptly and in the most professional manner. It is very comforting to know assistance is literally just a phone call away.” When Eyad had been asked about his heroic actions, he modestly responded, “I was there and just wanted to help someone out.”

Thank you for your consideration of my nominee,
Mr. Eyad Ahmad.
