Ick don't get your safety check here. I waited over an hour and a half for them to tell me to change two tires. I also had an appointment to change my tires and told them that, but no deals.Bleh. No tags. 2 hours of my time wasted. It's still $15 like other places that will do it in 15 min. or less! Granted, yes one of the tires (I was told at Firestone -- they are genuinely nice here) needed to be changed and the other they recommended be changed soon.I also waited in the waiting area for a bit and other customers looked like they were waiting for a long time and some looked disgruntled getting up every 15 min to check with a worker. I was told someone would get me when it was done, but when I saw my car out on the lot, I went to ask someone if it was done. They said YES. So I wonder how long I would have waited if I wasn't watching!I ate the bucks at LB's and went to Firestone (See my happier review there) to get two tires and a saftey. They were much friendlier there and more honest. Lex Brodie's: your 1+ hour "more comprehensive" (as I was told) safety check takes too long. I agree one tire was worn, but I would have rather been told in the first 5 min. like it would be at another station.
Aloha Beth,We are sincerely sorry about the disappointing experience. Unfortunately, many shops have not followed the proper safety check procedures for years and many folks simply expect a quick safety check which isn't really a "safety check", rather a quick flashing of the lights and then a collection of the set fee. Most shops refuse to do the proper inspections since the fee doesn't cover the actual labor cost to perform the proper inspection. We feel we need to be confident that our customer's vehicles are safe when they leave, so we actually remove the wheels and perform a visual inspection of the brakes and suspension; most shops do not do this or will charge extra for the inspection. Since we jack up and remove the tires, the average waiting time for the safety check is about an hour and half. We are working on a hand out to present to customers that will explain what we perform in a safety check and why it takes a bit of time. When customer realize what they are receiving for the nominal fee; the depth of the inspection and amount of labor involved, most customers realize that the $14.70 for the safety check is a deal and are happy to know that the components tied into their vehicles safety have been properly checked out and are in good working order. It's better to find potential safety problems before they actually become a safety issue. This is the true intend of the State Safety Inspections. We are very sorry that we did not do a better job communicating with you on the process of your vehicle's inspection; we are currently taking steps to fine tune this process. Could you please share with me your invoice number and confirm it has your correct e-mail address? I would like to mail you a gift card in appreciation of your feedback which we value to help us improve.Warm Regards & "TY...VM!"Scott
