Waipahu, HI
I brought my BMW with run flat tires in to have one patched for a slow leak. The nice Svc rep went and felt the treadwear on all four tires and then came back and told me they cannot fix my tire because policy dictates if they recommend replacement, then they are not allowed to fix it. WTH??? She further stated that the car needed alignment because there was uneven wear on the tires. Mind you, I just got the car Safety inspected this past June (less than 2 months ago) and this is one of the items inspected...it PASSED!. Furthermore, if I am telling you I am willing to assume the risk, then all you need to do is just annotate the service document of your recommendation and fix the darn leak as requested. "I" am assuming liability at that point. Why am I being forced to buy 4 FOUR new tires because one is slow leaking...that is dumb! You expect honesty and correct diagnosis when coming to a supposedly reputable establishment...and most of all, good customer service. If this is your policy, then the blame is not with the Customer Service rep, but rather the establishment. Is there a State law prohibiting fixing a tire with tread wear that I am unaware of? If so, please site the reference. Why would Lex Brody have a policy like that? Where is the customer service and compassion inbedded in your policy? You cannot assume everyone can afford NEW tires that come to you to just fix a flat. You do not ascertain their financial status by the car they drive nowadays to just increase your profits. Right now, this is not a place I would recommend my mother/sister/wife/daughter to go for any repairs...especially if you continue to have these type practices and policies.
