In June, I had over $2,300. worth of work done on my hi mileage (90K+) 2014 Honda CRV. I had taken it in because there was a shudder when I drove it between 20-30 miles an hour. I take good care of my car, and have it serviced regularly (usually at Tony Honda). I was attracted by coupons for free rental, and "fixed forever" brake repair promises, so I wanted to try Lex Brodies. I had done only oil changes, tire rotation, balance and alignment previously at this location. So when I went in again to say I was wondering why my car still shuddered, the service agent asked about my tires. My front tires were purchased there, and the rear ones at Costco. The agent ran his hands over ONE of the tires and said my tire was "separating" and that was the problem. Included in the $2,000. work done one month prior at Lex Brodies was supposed to be balancing, alignment, replace rear rotors and brakes (the front ones were still good but had some "hot spots", and control arms which was costly to replace. In 5 seconds, he reached a conclusion! I said I preferred to buy tires at Costco because they are easy to pull up and fill with nitrogen, and he shrugged and I was on my way. Once I was getting serviced that same morning at Costco, I told them the problem of separation of tires , but they said my tires looked good, but would put them up on the rack and see. Well, my car was returned to me in 1 hour, with rebalanced tires. There were no signs of separation they could see. All I want to say is I wonder if my tires were really balanced at Lex Brodies, and were my tires really separating or were they just trying to make an additional sale of tires?? I find that after this experience, I am not sure that I will trust them to do major work on my car.
