Aiea, HI ("Pearlridge")
I had gone into the Pearlridge location on 11/15/16 to select tires and make an appointment with a female employee for installing 4 new tires 6 days prior. I was told that the 4 Michelin tires would be reserved and sent to the Pearlridge store by 11/18/16; in advance of my 9:00 am appointment on 11/21/16. I got there at about 8:45 am to check in. About an hour later my vehicle was on the rack, however the employee installing the tires said he could not locate them. Checking the system, it was disclosed that 3 of the tires were at the Honolulu store and 1 at the Kaneohe store. An employee was going to be sent to pick up these tires at both Honolulu and Kaneohe, then call me when they were at Pearlridge. I left at about 10:00 am for a 10:30 am appointment at Firestone to have the alignment on this car done. We have a lifetime alignment contract there. After a 45 minute wait at Firestone, the alignment was done and I went home to wait for the tires. At 1:00 pm I called Pearlridge to get a status update and found out that the tires were in. Drove down and got there about 1:10 pm. Installation was done at about 3:10 pm. This was not a good day as a lot of time was spent waiting when I had a confirmed appointment at 9:00 am; 6 hours later it was completed. The staff at a Pearlridge were very nice, apologizing profusely about the error and my long wait time. They even offered to get me a rent a car; but it did not make sense for me as I live close by and the tires were not there anyway. At closing I did get an additional $10 discount, which I believe was due to my unfortunate situation. To "add insult to injury"; I found out after getting home and checking the tire pressure on these 4 brand new tires that there were 3 different readings. The vehicle specs show 35 psi; 1 tire was at the 35 psi spec, 1 at 36psi and 2 @ 34 psi. I hand pumped all the tires to 36 psi. Even called the store to inform them of the tire pressure; also wanted to confirm that the lug nuts were hand tightened by someone other than the installer. The gentlemen I spoke to, looked up my work order and confirmed that 3 employees signed off as hand tightening. This guy was also apologetic about the lack of attention to detail, particularly that these tires are energy efficient types.
