Gf needed two rear tires in 2016. Based on existing reviews at the time, we chose here. They were replaced for a reasonable price and she was on her way. Nothing complex or unique, just regular passenger car tires. We didn't look closely at the tires they installed -- but should have as they were 4 years old (manufacture stamp 2012). Less than two years later now in 2018 the tires were failing: wavy, warping, and rattle as she drove. Our auto mechanic noticed the date and considered that abnormal. Instead of replacing defective, old, tires they offered a $120 discount pro-rated on buying new tires, again. The "warranty" included at sale in 2016 was not honored. EDIT: Scott, your email address in your reply below is incorrect. Linked as ".con" but appears should be: scottwilliams@lexbrodies… Her car was in your shop this morning -- blue 2004 Ford Escape. She left upon receiving the quote and returned to work. I do not have the invoice number from 2016, however my phone received a txt when she showed up at 8am so I believe we must be in your system from the last visit. The rears were replaced in 2016 with the defective tires -- failing less than two years and 20k miles on them. Her car was due for the front two tires now, and we would have done all four depending on how this issue was handled. This is where we disagree: | "If it is the tires purchased on the 2016 date, and there was a defect, the tires should be prorated from that purchase date." 1) Was not cupping. The tread and sidewall were wavy, and could be felt by running your hand over them. Your shop was correct in telling her she should make an appointment to come in ASAP. Defective tires are defective, unsafe, and should be replaced, not pro-rated. 2) The rears sold to us were 4 years old when installed in 2016. Perhaps the manufacturer sold you old tires, and that should be unacceptable to your business as well. Thank you for the quick reply. EDIT2: Scott, We purchased tires elsewhere that day from mobile installer co. that came to her location. Tires were off the vehicle & gone before I could get the DOT. Thank you for the replies and concern but this matter is closed.
